We Can Be Heroes

Said the Man Who Fell to Earth, but didn't hurt himself, apart from getting different coloured eyes and then moving to Switzerland which is spectacular(ly shit).

Anyway, I've been watching this series, called, funnily enough Heroes. As far as I can figure, it is about a group of people who all have a 'super-power' each, but there's an evil force out to get them. I'm not sure how many evil forces exist in the world but they seem to multiply a lot, without even asking for a reference - bastards.

Back to Heroes, there seem to be lots of people with one 'super-power' and then there is one good one, and one bad one, who can assimilate the powers of others - except you don't know which is which, unless you work on haircuts and general style of clothing which kind of gives it away.

The 'super-powers' range from the ability to:-
  • become invisible
  • to fly, but like Superman
  • become radioactive and blow shit up
  • create fire, without matches
  • read peoples minds
  • walk through solid objects
I lost track as they keep coming up with new 'super-powers' that the peeps can have.

Now, I'm not sure which 'super-power' I would choose, given a choice of any of them. Well, actually, that's a lie, I know exactly which one I would choose.

BUT, which one would you choose, if you could only select ONE SUPER POWER?

That's funny! i took my teen age son to see 'The Man who fell to Earth' and were treated to David Bowie's willy and he as you know has - naturally - different coloured eyes. On the same afternoon we saw 'One Flew over the Cuckoo's nest'. Happy days!
I wanna fly!

JG -> that is so male (says every woman on the planet)

Pat -> thought about flying but it wouldn't be my first choice...

I hesitate between bringing people back to life and making people sleep peacefully at night.

I'd want to be invisible.

You can't beat being able to turn people into frogs. Those witches had all the best tricks.

well, if I have to choose from those listed, I'd choose read people's minds. I'd like to be able to tell if people are coming from the heart or are just pure evil and by reading minds, I'd be able know this. Besides, I'm already invisible, I like flying in planes, walking thru solid objects always leaves me covered in bruises, I love blowing shit up the old fashioned way with explosives and who needs radiation in this age of cancer, and I already know how to builda a fire without matches. Yep..I chose reading minds.

which one do you chose Goth?

If I had the choice? It'd be some sort of time travel - backwards or forwards. I'm sure I could make good (read: evil) use of either. I suppose turning back time a little could be useful - I could go back and not have the last pint that always makes me pissed.

Stacie, I'm with you. Reading minds is the best on the list. With that knowledge, you can do almost anything.

And Tom, that's not a super power, what you want is a TARDIS (me too!)

Err, sorry for answering your comments for you, Goth. Couldn't help it. :)

Today, everything is played on the appearance.

The prehistoric men had freezing, pharaohs mummification,
Caenorhabditis elegans (a some millimetre worm) has a gene which once transferred could multiply the life by two!!

ENDLESS YOUTH!!

Minky -> the hesitation is maybe in the wrong order

Anna -> but I don't want you to be

GB -> it's an inbreeding thing

Stacie -> try reading mine - it says "love you honey, as you are, who you are" - will tell you later my choice

Tom -> time travel is an option, if you bear in mind the butterly effect

Ani -> reading minds is the easy bit, it's what you choose to do with it

Dip-Dop -> endless youth is good, I assume but not existiential enough for you

Goth, that's one of the sweetest things anyone's ever said to me, and the timeing, couldn't have been more perfect. Love you to death! Mariposa is a lucky lady!

Señor Goth
You are right, I avai a more subtle answer!
We are made to define our own signification.
Jean-Paul Sartre, Albert Camus or Friedrich Nietzsche...
Sense and essence of my own life.

SpanishGoth dijo...

Stacie -> Happiness is in the eye of the beholden (no, it's not a spelling mistake)

Dip-Dop -> pour moi, Nietzsche - even though he was German....
