Tell Me It's Not True

As I can't be arsed to write a proper post (it would develop into another rant), here are some bizarre facts.... all true appraently:-

- In Quebec, there is an old law that states margarine must be a different color than butter.

- Dueling is legal in Paraguay as long as both parties are registered blood donors.

- The town of Calma, Chile in the Atacama Desert has never had rain. (fuckers should come to Bruxelles then)

- Greece's national anthem has 158 verses.

- Netherlands is the only country with a national dog.

- Donald Duck Comics were once banned in Finland because he doesn't wear pants.

- The country code for Russia is "007".

- Nepal is the only country that has a non-rectangular flag. It is also asymmetrical.

- In Chinese, the Kentucky Fried Chicken slogan "finger-lickin' good" came out as "eat your fingers off." (probably tastier)

- Australian soldiers used the song "We're Off to See the Wizard" as a marching song in WWII.

And, before you expend energy trying to prove any of them to be wrong - don't bother as I don't care. If however, you have some you would like added to the list, that's different.

Apparently, the slogan "Coke adds life" was used for a while in China. It was a little while before someone pointed out that it translated literally as "Coke brings your ancestors back from the dead". Must be a hell of a sugar rush.

Somehow I just don't fancy blue marge.
I've been concerned about Donald's bare bum for some time.
My mind's gone blank- hopefully this will not be permannent.

You have to be careful with advertising in other countries. Vauxhall had to change the name of the Nova for the Italian market, where "no va" means "doesn't go". Carry Tot child car seats didn't do very well in Germany, where "Tot" means Death. But Kellogg's Sugar Smacks are selling well in Eastern Europe under the local brand name of ... Smack.

Tom -> not so sure about it's curative properties but I know the other 'coke' has a tendency to send people in the opposite direction

Pat -> You don't like the Simpsons?

Daphne -> there's quite a few of those product name not working in translation, I like to see them when I am in other countries

In NYC, (USA) A person may not walk around on Sundays with an ice cream cone in his/her pocket.

The penalty for jumping off a building is death.

In Michigan: It is legal for a robber to file a law suit, if he or she got hurt in your house.(this one is still enforced)

Any person over the age of 12 may have a license for a handgun as long as he/she has not been convicted of a felony. (I had my license at the age of 12 for many different guns)

In Washington: When two trains come to a crossing, neither shall go until the other has passed.

I'll spare you the rest...some of them are downright funny as all get out!

Hope you're having a FABULOUS day!

I think the Greeks have a long anthem to make sure all the other athletes are knackered for the rest of the Olympics.

Stacie -> here are a few you will love - from Jersey, Channel Islands, UK...

Any man walking around St Helier (the capital) without his shirt on, can be arrested if 2 people complain

Being found asleep in a car, with the keys to start the vehicle, will get you a drink-driving charge (without a breathalizer test)

Cream -> Well, they did invent the bloody Olympics...

It is still legal in York to shoot a Scotsman found within the city walls after dark.

So I had to be right careful.

Fookin' William Wallace...

Olympics and Greek anthem? You asked for it. Rather short, in fact, isn't it?

Ford had to change the name of their "Pinto" when marketing it in South America. Pinto means "small penis"

And the marge had to be a deep yellow colour so it couldn't be marketed as butter. It's really white, which no one would buy.

Tippler -> Gibson has a lot to answer to, rascist bastard

Minky -> I did not bloody ask for it

Pat -> tx

Dawn -> that will have been Fiat then, not Ford...
